Description
A key member of the Treasury department, you will be responsible for processing cash transactions and ensuring the ongoing liquidity of the Group. Reporting on cash balances as well as gathering forecast data to be used to make key decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Process daily banking transactions and work with other supporting teams and trading businesses to process transactions outside of the normal flow.
- Monthly bank reconciliations from bank statement to accounting system.
- Operation of monthly and quarterly controls for banking access and mandate reviews.
- Administration for mandate changes and banking access requirements
- Preparation of data for cash flow forecasting – liaising with other business units to obtain accurate forecast data and presentation to financial controller for final approval (no previous experience required)
- Daily cash reporting.
- Support with expenses processing and reporting (supporting colleague as cover for sickness and holidays).
Challenges that are likely to fire you up:
- Newly formed function and team – This is a new centralised function at Breedon which has been set a mandate to centralise and improve the treasury functions of the group. We have been given a blank slate to determine how the function should operate and to bring in best practice operations. You would have the opportunity to shape how the department works to bring in the best processes and controls to ensure a slick and smooth department.
- Cash is King! – Cash is fundamental to business operations – no cash, no business. We are in charge of the businesses most important asset and we need to ensure we are using it right. With your support, we will primarily ensure the business has sufficient cash to operate but also look to best utilise excess cash to reduce high interest costs.
- New system implementation – Breedon Group are at the start of a new system implementation. Being in the treasury department, it is vital that the new systems ensure we continue to have clear visibility of the cash balances as well as allowing us the ability to forecast the cash accurately. As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to shape this system and ensure it works for the team and for the Group as a whole.
Strengths you’ll bring:
- Good team player. Skills relating to the job can be learned, teamwork is something we want from day 1.
- Ability to communicate with impact and empathy. Within this role, you would be working with various different financial departments. You will be required to problem solve with a variety of individuals, meaning you need to be understanding of their issues, whilst also ensuring the issue is fixed from a treasury perspective – ensuring the solution works for all.
- A basic understanding of the key operations of a treasury function and familiarity with terminology used.
- Experience using excel – basic skills would be excellent (SUM, VLOOKUP, IF), but familiarity is key.
- Experience using accounting software is preferable.
